UK homeowners encouraged to make friends

Homeowners are being encouraged to get to know their neighbours in a bid to make parts of the UK safer.

According to the government, only 27 per cent of Britons speak to their neighbour every day, while 48 per cent know someone who lives on their street.

Countryside Properties is launching a campaign to encourage people to get to know those who live close by in attempt to increase security in these areas.

Figures show that a close-knit community is ten times less likely to experience crime than those in other regions.

"Today's hectic way of life means that we're all pressed for time but in reality all it takes to get to know your neighbour is a cuppa," said Martin Leggett from Countryside Properties.

"That's why we're asking our residents to take five minutes on National Australia Day to do as the Aussies do and help build community ties.

"Whether you would like someone to keep an eye on your house whilst you're on holiday or know a neighbour living alone who would appreciate a friendly face saying hello – you could be making a valuable friend for life," he added.ADNFCR-1116-ID-18440226-ADNFCR
