Sussex protected from price crash

If the UK housing market does crash, Sussex will not suffer.

That is according to one estate agency in Brighton, which told the Argus that the region is protected from price falls due to its popularity among buyers.

In addition, Sussex benefits from a shortage of housing supply, according to Weatherstone Properties, which will help to support property prices.

"Here in the south, the banks are confident, the property developers are confident and the estate agents are confident," Chris Weatherstone told the newspaper.

"It is going to be a slightly tougher market this year but the talk of a crash in Sussex is rubbish.

"We have a buzzing city which people want to move to all the time and the businesses are doing well. Down here there's a shortage of property and they're not making more land," he continued.

Many analysts have been cautious about their forecasts for house prices in 2008, although Assetz believes that growth will reach five per cent.
