Privacy top of the agenda for homebuyers

British homeowners are keen to ensure that they have plenty of privacy in their home.

That is according to new research from Yorkshire Bank, which reveals that 53 per cent prefer not to mix too much with their neighbours.

The survey also revealed that 59 per cent would rather not buy a property that had another house looking over it.

Perhaps most interestingly, 37 per cent of respondents claimed that they regularly go weeks without even seeing their neighbours.

"Privacy and personal space are high on the list of priorities for homeowners keen to avoid nosey neighbours," commented Gary Lumby from Yorkshire Bank.

"As increasing numbers of young professionals and first time buyers are choosing to live in city centre apartment blocks or purpose built flats, it seems that more of us aspire to own a property that offers plenty of privacy," he added.

The West Midlands was highlighted as the region were people most value their privacy, with 79 per cent of people saying that they would prefer to purchase a more private house.ADNFCR-1116-ID-18451063-ADNFCR
